Unlikely relationships

FOREWORD BY JOEL CLETO
I always carry a pad and pen with me, which I use to draw in the most varied situations. I do it to entertain myself and because it's a more careful way of observing my surroundings, but I also want to share what I've seen, what I've felt and what caught my attention at the time. A notebook that has travelled and recorded people, spaces and environments has also given rise to stories that deserve to be told. It should open its pages and show itself to the world! And I started to do that in my previous book - "Drawings" - with only brief outline notes, almost without volumes or shapes.
In the meantime, I added a small case of watercolours and some brushes to my backpack and those street drawings also took on colour and a more detailed atmosphere with the brief watercolours I added right on the spot. I always preferred the spontaneous, albeit sometimes with less rigour, to the detriment of the more perfect detail or finish that I could eventually give it at home. So you realise that not all days are the same and the mood and the "hand" are not always the same... But there was something missing to connect them, to give them content; I didn't want a mere catalogue with watercolours of the places I've been over the last two and a half years. And so, almost spontaneously, I came up with this idea of linking them in ways that weren't always very obvious and were therefore unlikely. A process like this is born alone and gradually takes on a body, characters and protagonists. Some involuntary, who were there when I was there and others who, because of the importance of their legacy, are an integral part of the stories.
